145 years of catholic education
Welcome back to St. Patrick Catholic School! Our school has been involved in Catholic education for 145 years. Many of the St. Croix community graduated from here. Perhaps, you are among them. We are a community school with lots of diversity. St. Patrick is rooted deeply in the island on which we live. What makes Catholic School different? We believe in God. He is our most important subject. We pray and believe that it is not enough just to be smart. Our children need to be good - leading virtuous lives for others and for the honor and glory of God. We have plenty of information today, but not much wisdom. We want our children to work to make our world a better place for all and to go one day to heaven - our true home. We are here to know love and serve God here on earth so that we can be happy with Him for all eternity in heaven. We believe in the worth of every human being! We are all precious in the eyes of God. We believe in respecting each person. First, we respect rightful authority - teacher, parents and staff. Then, we respect other students - and finally ourselves. We believe that everyone is different. We all have talents on loan from God, but they are different talents. Every student has unique capabilities. We believe in responsibility. Accountability! Making excuses often does not help us solve problems. Catholic Education is a service to our parents. It is a team effort and parents are the primary educators.
God bless you all,
Rev. E. Patrick Lynch, C.Ss.R., Pastor
I am honored to be the principal at St. Patrick Catholic School. I believe in working collaboratively with teachers, parents and the community. I am humbled by the opportunity to lead by example and continue Catholic education with a rigorous academic curriculum. We have the responsibility to set the example by our actions and deeds. We understand that combining Catholic education with academics brings about a wholesome learning environment. We have open communication, high expectations, positive school climate, and commitment from teachers, parents, students, and the community. St. Patrick Catholic School is celebrating 145 years of Catholic education and the teachers are ready to embark upon another school year with great anticipation. The faculty and staff are superb and work diligently to provide a quality education. However, they cannot be totally successful without your support. Your active involvement in the school life of your child is important. This includes your active participation in community service activities, as well as school activities. As the primary educator, we want to partner with you to foster and promote problem solving, creativity, critical thinking, and respect for one another. As Mother Teresa stated, "We are all pencils in the hand of God."
This year, our theme is SHARE YOUR GIFTS. Please partner with us and share your time and talents!
Blessings,

St. Patrick School was established in 1866 and opened on May 1, 1866 under the auspices of St. Patrick Church. The next several years there were a series of natural disasters that almost forced the school to close. In 1914, the Sisters of the Missionary Canonesses of St. Augustine were brought from Belgium to St. Croix. The buildings were renovated and the school continued to strive. In 1917, when the islands transferred from Danish to American rule, the Redemptorists arrived. The main school building was dedicated on December 1, 1940. At this time, the school was serving a staggering 500 students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. This was finally alleviated when
St. Joseph High School opened in 1964 and St. Patrick became an elementary school. More classrooms and buildings were added to the school in 1982 and in 1985 the first pre-school was opened.
Today, St. Patrick School, located in Frederiksted, St. Croix, V.I. is serving the needs of children from Pre-school through eighth grade with new additional buildings housing the junior high departments located across the street from the main building. Our school strives to develop the whole student, fostering spiritual, academic, physical, psychological, intellectual and social growth based on solid curriculum guidelines established by the Diocese of St. Thomas, under the leadership of Bishop Herbert A. Bevard. We strive to instill Gospel values and develop Christian attitudes in the students to create a community of shared values.
